Hebrew Verb Tables Print E-mail

hebrew320x240 Do you ever need to know how a verb is conjugated?  How to decipher a Hebrew verb - is it present tense, past tense, future tense?  Do you need to learn the root words of Hebrew verbs?

A Hebrew Verb Table is a solution, but in what media should you acquire it in ?

Several publishers produce a Hebrew Verb Table book which contains listings and tables of every Hebrew verb arranged according to its root, שרש.  But searching for a particular word is not straightforward.  It usually takes me a few pages of browsing through to find the right page.

A computer with good software is a must for this type of undertaking.  I've been using "Hebrewworks" for some time now.  It is excellent.

What I like about this software:

  • a complete Tanach in Hebrew/English that one can cut and paste from
  • a comprehensive complete listing of Hebrew verb roots with various conjugations and various binyanim, including varied ways of spelling certain conjugated verbs
  • a comprehensive listing of prepositions
  • a computerized verbalization of each conjugated verb in various accents (Ashkenazi, Sephardi, Israeli)

I use this software very frequently to prepare for Chumash and Ivrit learning with my children.

There are features that I don't use such as tutorials on the Hebrew alphabet and numbers.  But for beginners, this tutorial will be helpful.
