Searching in the Bible Print E-mail
Image One should have a good mechanism to search for any word in the Bible.  A book will not do, therefore we need the aid of a computer and good computer software to help us.

In my work as an educator of my homeschooled children and a student of Torah, I have tested various Bible software.  The one that I am using frequently is none other than "Bible Scholar" from TES.  I have also tried a competitor version from Davka, but I prefer this one.

I use the concordance a lot to find words in the Tanach.  I use it to find the correct vowelized spelling of words.  The user interface is quite easy after using it a few times.  One could perform a generic search using a wildcard for a prefix or suffix of a word.  A fruitful search returns a listing based on Chapter and Verse in a particular language (Hebrew or English).  It would be nice if one can easily access the search result in both languages after clicking on one of the entries in the listing.  However, I haven't found a way to achieve this.  It is not straightforward to cross-reference a Hebrew listing to its English translation.  I usually have to search for the chapter and verse in the English version of the viewer.

There are many nice features that I don't use such as saving the concordance search results in a file, annotating one's comments about a particular chapter and verse, etc.

The price of this software is under $100, but one can find a good bargain at certain times of the year when TES offers a 70% off some of its selected software, in which case one could acquire it for under $50.
