Modern technology - by way of aura photography that evolved from Kirilian photography - has now proved how a person's inner spiritual light is reflected from the body. Have you wondered how were the great tzaddikim were/are able to see a person's entire spiritual makeup - whether he/she is righteous or evil? How did they know whether a person was truthful or lying? How could they see whether a person observed the Sabbath or not? Here's your answer: Aura.

Simply put, the aura is an electromagnetic or energy field that surrounds all living things. It's outside the visible light spectrum, therefore most people cannot see it. The electromagnetic or energy field of the aura is made up of very high frequencies, for most people it requires intense concentration and meditation to be able to see the aura, however almost everyone has the ability to sense the effects of their own aura and the aura of others; they just don't realize it.

The aura extends about two to four inches around the body, the more spiritual the person, the stronger and wider the aura. The Torah itself testifies that Moses's aura was so blinding, that he had to cover his face with a veil when he was among other people. The aura's colors, textures and patterns reveal much information about physical, emotional, mental and spiritual states of a person. It's rather like a thumbprint, completely individual, expressing who you really are in all your splendor.

The more a person's soul prevails over the body, in other words, the more one possesses a developed sense of spiritual awareness (to learn more about spiritual awareness, see Chapter 4 of The Trail to Tranquility), the better one sees another person's aura.

My esteemed friend Rav Zamir Cohen shlit'a recently published a phenominal book, "Hamahapach", where he gathers the testimony of secular scientists around the world that have discovered the truth of Torah. He has an entire chapter where aura photographers took pictures of Jewish men, before and after putting on tefillin. The results are amazing.

Your aura can tell you quite a bit about yourself. Pale yellow represents a low level of holiness, while deep green extending to purple shows Kedusha. Rav Zamir's book shows that people moved from pale yellow to green, or from green to purple after having put on their tefillin for morning prayer.

Have you ever sensed others in your midst without seeing or actually hearing them? Have you ever loved or hated a person on first site? Do some people make you nervous and others make you calm for no apparent reason? You were probably picking up their aura.

Everything has an aura - the inanimate, plants, animals, and man. If you gently water and weed your African violets, their aura will change, showing happiness and gratitude for your tender-loving care. Dairy cattle's aura change when they hear classical music in the milking parlor. Our aura shines bright the more we connect with Hashem.
