Babies are cute
They are not mute
They cry
They are not shy

Sometimes they smile
instead of weep
Other times they grunt
while they're asleep

Babies teach
instead of preach
They discern
while they learn
what they like
and what they dislike

When we name a baby
we get to learn our history
Of those who came
and went before us
They did the same
before they named us

Life slows down
with a baby in the house
A time to count
our blessings with our spouse

Raise our eyes toward heaven
for every little second
To thank The One Above
The One to whom we serve
For the miracles of birth
For the gift of life on earth

Jewish Wisdom

A foolish student will say,"Who can possibly learn the whole Torah ..?" A wise student will say,"I will learn two laws today, and two laws tomorrow, until I have mastered the whole Torah." -- Song of Songs, Rabbah 5:11
