Back in the old country, our family has gotten used to having meals together other than supper. I used to serve homemade pancakes, eggs and other delicious foods that I didn't have time to make during the week, on Sunday mornings. Sundays used to be the day (for Jews at least) to lazy around and get up late. Brunches are common in the States. Even colleges serve brunches on Sundays. A brunch is a big meal that is served late morning and last til early afternoon. Well, since we moved to Israel, there is no Sunday. Sunday is a work day. Sunday is a school day. We don't have a day where we lazy around and get up late and eat breakfast together as a family. Unless of course, if it is a national holiday. Israel has plenty of those. We miss "breakfast"! So, I decided to make breakfast foods for dinner one evening. Blueberry pancakes, omelets, toast are just what we miss, and we had them for supper. I think I shall make that a tradition. School is going to be over soon (at the end of the month), but then comes camp and all. Well, as ex-homeschoolers, I think we'll use the summer leisurely and plan family outings and family eat-in breakfasts a lot. We sure deserve it!
