ImageStudents entering First Grade, כתה א,  in traditional Hebrew Day Schools are required to learn to translate Parasha Bereishis.  For homeschoolers and other distant learners, here is an opportunity for you to acquire your translation skills through this course, designed by a homeschooling mother.   This is an incremental Parasha Bereishis Translation Course for beginners.   The first chapter (31 verses) is included in this course.  This course is recommended for all ages.  It assumes working knowledge of the following:

  1. ability to read Hebrew (at least 6 to 7 years old)
  2. ability to read and understand English (at least 7 years old)
  3. ability to type in English (varies depending on age)
For children who are not yet comfortable with the navigation of a computer and the course, supervision is recommended by a trusted adult.


The features of this course include:

  1. an interlinear and linear translation of each verse in Parasha Bereishis Chapter 1
  2. a vocabulary lesson
  3. a grammar lesson
  4. a gradable vocabulary quiz
  5. a gradable grammar quiz
  6. a gradable comprehension quiz
  7. lots of randomly selected quizzes for review (review is key in toiling over Torah!)
  8. a searchable picture dictionary of most terms referenced in Chapter 1
  9. a forum to ask questions
